Featured in: Snack Attack Fix

This festive holiday pretzel wreath features a soft, budget-friendly dough twisted into a beautiful centerpiece ideal for parties. Made from simple ingredients like all-purpose flour, yeast, and melted butter, the dough is kneaded, shaped into ropes, and braided into a large circular wreath. Each segment is briefly dipped in a baking soda bath to create a signature crust, then brushed with egg wash and topped with coarse salt and seeds before baking to golden perfection. Garnished with rosemary and cherry tomatoes or cranberries, it offers a visually appealing, savory snack that’s easy to prepare in under an hour and perfect for sharing.

Cooking Guide

How do I achieve the soft texture in the pretzel wreath?

Using warm water combined with melted butter in the dough and proper kneading helps develop softness and elasticity, creating a tender crumb.

What is the purpose of the baking soda bath?

Dipping the dough segments in a baking soda solution before baking gives the pretzel its characteristic chewy crust and golden-brown color.

Can I customize the toppings on the wreath?

Yes, top your wreath with coarse salt, sesame and poppy seeds, or garnish with fresh rosemary and colorful cherry tomatoes or cranberries for added flavor and visual appeal.

What are good serving suggestions with this pretzel wreath?

Serve it warm with dips like honey mustard, cheese sauce, or herbed cream cheese to complement its savory notes.

Is it possible to make a vegan version?

To make it vegan, substitute melted butter with plant-based options and omit the egg wash before baking.
