Lemon Ginger Turmeric Wellness Cubes (Printer View)

Frozen citrus cubes blending lemon, ginger, and turmeric for convenient wellness shots.

# Components:

→ Citrus Base

01 - 3 large lemons, juiced (about 3/4 cup juice)

→ Roots & Spices

02 - 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
03 - 2-inch piece fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped (or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric)
04 - 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Liquid Base

05 - 1 cup filtered water

→ Optional Sweetener

06 - 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)

# Method:

01 - Combine lemon juice, chopped ginger, chopped turmeric (or ground turmeric), water, black pepper, and sweetener (if using) in a blender. Blend on high speed until completely smooth.
02 - Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, pressing firmly to extract maximum liquid and remove all pulp.
03 - Pour the strained liquid into an ice cube tray, carefully filling each compartment to just below the rim.
04 - Place tray in freezer for at least 2 hours or until cubes are completely frozen solid.
05 - Pop out 2 cubes per serving. Dissolve in a glass of warm water, add to smoothies, or enjoy as a concentrated wellness shot. Store remaining cubes in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • Having these cubes ready means you never have to peel and chop ginger when youre already feeling run down
  • The flavor is somehow both comforting and energizing, like sunshine in ice form
02 -
  • Straining through cheesecloth gives the smoothest result, but a fine mesh sieve works perfectly fine if you press firmly enough
  • Black pepper is not optional here, since it is what actually makes the turmeric beneficial for your body
03 -
  • Double the batch and freeze half immediately, since having a backup stash means you never run out when you need them most
  • If fresh turmeric is not available at your store, ground works but reduce to half a teaspoon since it is more concentrated
